Description
MATERIAL TRASFORMATIONS
Positive or negative? Artists such as Alexandra Bircken, Robert Gober, Philippe Parreno, and Nairy Baghramian enjoy playing with different materials. They often use unusual materials for their three-dimensional artworks, sometimes causing confusion.
In this workshop, we will explore the interplay between negative and positive forms. What happens when we transform shapes and impressions into a different material? You will use clay to make an impression of an object. Then you will fill this mold with plaster. Once the plaster has dried, you can take a small relief home with you.
The workshop is led by the artist Janna Jirkova, who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. She works as a freelance artist at the intersection of new media, sculpture, and performance. Since 2018, she has also been working as an art educator at various museums in Munich.
