Lucy McKenzie: The Girl Who Followed Marple & De Ooievaar digital render
until
The exhibition “Lucy McKenzie – Prime Suspect” presents two cinematic works in which the artist explores ambivalent narratives of history, identity, and aesthetic appropriation. In the ten-minute film “The Girl Who Followed Marple” (2014), McKenzie assumes the identity of Miss Marple to explore themes such as voyeurism, female representation, and consumer culture, all within the context of a crime story. In the smaller room, “De Ooievaar digital render” (2017) takes center stage: this video work is dedicated to the eponymous villa in the Flemish coastal town of Ostend—a modernist building designed by the architect and Nazi collaborator Jozef De Bruycker. McKenzie acquired the villa in 2014 and has been restoring it ever since.
